Professional History

Werner Roth is an American comic book artist/penciler, perhaps best known for immediately succeeding Jack Kirby on Marvel Comics' Uncanny X-Men. Initially on that title, Roth used the pseudonym Jay Gavin, taken from the names of his two sons.

He was active as an artist for Marvel's 1950s iteration, Atlas Comics, drawing many of the Apache Kid stories, among other characters.
