Professional History

Franco Bignotti (Cellatica, November 8, 1929 - Rescaldina, February 17, 1991) was an Italian comic artist.

After studying in the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (in Brera, Italy), he debuts as a graphic artist doing advertisement work and illustrating many children's fairy tale books.

In 1951 he draws the comic series Il piccolo centauro (The Small Centaur) for Edizioni Carroccio in Monza.

From 1952 to 1955 he drew, for publisher Tristano Torelli, various characters including El Bravo, with scripts by Gian Giacomo Dalmasso.

1956 sees the start of his collaboration with publisher Araldo, the current Sergio Bonelli Editore, drawing the Hondo series (with scripts by Gian Luigi Bonelli), Un ragazzo nel Far West in 1958, Furio Almirante in 1964 and Gun Flint in 1966.

Starting 1965 he also starts drawing for publisher EsseGesse (Capitan Miki and Il grande Blek) and, abroad, for Éditions Lug in Lyon, as well as for Fleetway Publications in London.

Starting 1970 he draws Il Piccolo Ranger, Zagor, Mister No (1975) and Martin Mystère.

Mister No #3, his first issue as artist
