Synopsis for "What Wilbur Saw"Edit
A man who has lived a wasted life sees a basket swoop down out of the sky. He later learns that it landed upon the doorstep of a childless couple and he resolves to tell everyone what he saw. To his surprise the infant addresses him directly in his mind and begs him not to tell. The infant reveals that he is an alien from an overpopulated planet and that his people are trying to bring joy to the childless couples of Earth while lessening their planet's burden. The man refuses as he desperately wishes to gain the esteem of his fellows, so the Mysterious Traveler whispers to the infant what the man really wants. The alien informs the man that their technology can grant him his desire to live his life over again in exchange for a vow of silence and the man agrees.
