In 1975, the Joker became the first super-villain to own his own comic book series. The Joker lasted from May 1, 1975 until October 1, 1976 and had 9 issues.
Premise[edit | edit source]
The Joker series commonly took place in Gotham City and other DC universe cities. Joker will go through an adventure facing off a hero or a villain ending with the Joker being sent to prison, "killed" or escaping.

"The Joker's Double Jeopardy"[edit | edit source]
When a villain named Senor Alvarez breaks Batman's enemy Two-Face out of Arkham Asylum and insults the Joker as "not a superior criminal", The Joker breaks out of Arkham and decides to get revenge and prove he is a "superior" criminal.[citation needed]
"The Sad Saga of Willy the Weeper"[edit | edit source]
The Joker teams up with a villain called The Weeper who has a habit of crying and laughing when he sees others cry to help him steal platinum after The Weeper breaks him out.[citation needed]
"The Last Ha Ha"[edit | edit source]
After a battle with the Joker, fellow Batman villain The Creeper gets amnesia and is persuaded he is the Joker's ally.[citation needed]
"A Gold Star for the Joker"[edit | edit source]
The Joker falls in love with DC hero Green Arrow's girlfriend Dinah Lance and gives Lance two choices: Marry the Joker or die.[citation needed]
"The Joker Goes 'Wilde'!"[edit | edit source]
The Joker competes with fellow Justice League foes The Royal Flush Gang for a valuable painting done by the late Thaedus Wilde.[citation needed]
"Sherlock Stalks the Joker"[edit | edit source]
When the Joker hits an actor playing the famous detective Sherlock Holmes on his head with a pipe, the actor believes he is Holmes and that the Joker is Holmes's archenemy Professor Moriarty and goes "stalking" The Joker.[citation needed]
"Luthor -- You're Driving Me Sane!"[edit | edit source]
An experiment goes awry and switches The Joker's insanity with fellow Superman villain Lex Luthor's criminal ingenuity.[citation needed]
"The Scarecrow's Fearsome Face-Off!"[edit | edit source]
When The Joker steals "Fear-Gas" from S.T.A.R. Labs, he ends up competing with fellow Batman villain The Scarecrow to see whose "fear-based" weapon is the best. Joker wins.[citation needed]
"The Cat and the Clown"[edit | edit source]
The Joker and Batman "frenemy" The Catwoman end up competing for a valuable Cat statue. Catwoman's victory leads to a three way rivalry with Two-Face included.[citation needed]

- Willie The Weeper was made as a one-time villain in the "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" TV episode "Joker: The Vile and the Villainous!" in which the Joker recruits him into becoming a super-villain again after facing a humiliating defeat".[citation needed]
